Why We Exist

The Orchid Foundation for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities addresses a critical societal need by focusing on the well-being and inclusion of children living with neurodevelopmental differences and their families. By addressing the unique challenges these children face, the foundation not only transforms individual lives but also contributes significantly to the achievement of various Sustainable Development Goals, promoting a more inclusive, equal, and just world for all.

Alarming Statistics:

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 15% of the global population, or approximately 1 billion people, live with disabilities, a significant portion of which includes neurodevelopmental disabilities among children. About 1 in 100 children worldwide is living with autism (WHO).

Social Inequity and Stigma:

Neurodevelopmental disabilities often lead to social stigma and discrimination, hindering the children from participating fully in society. Families of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities face social isolation and economic challenges due to limited access to suitable healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for their children.

How We Address These Challenges:

Health and Well-being (SDG 3):

Through awareness campaigns and partnerships with healthcare providers, the foundation improves the overall health and well-being of these children and their families, ensuring they have access to medical services and therapies that enhance their quality of life.

Quality Education (SDG 4):

By promoting inclusive education, the foundation ensures that children with neurodevelopmental disabilities have access to quality learning, enhancing their opportunities for future employment and active participation in society.

Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10):

By empowering families and communities with knowledge and skills, the foundation reduces inequalities by ensuring children with neurodevelopmental differences have the same opportunities and support networks as their peers.

Advocacy and Strong Institutions (SDG 16):

Orchid Foundation's advocacy efforts contribute to creating strong, inclusive institutions where the rights of children with neurodevelopmental differences are protected, leading to a more just and equitable society.

Partnerships for Impact (SDG 17):

Collaborating with other organisations and stakeholders amplifies the foundation's impact, creating a network of support that fosters sustainable change for children with neurodevelopmental differences.
